About Us
Center of Spiritual Light is a sacred “space without walls,” bringing people together in real and virtual spaces across the United States and world. These spaces include workshops, retreats, counseling and coaching sessions, life empowerment groups, organizational renewal consultation, and community gatherings for prayer and worship. Individuals, families, religious and community service leaders come to explore multifaith teachings to envision and experience greater freedom, peace, and wholeness. As we incorporate spiritual wisdom from diverse religious traditions, Center of Spiritual Light fosters healing and renewal within individuals, groups, and organizations, across spiritual beliefs and practices.

Center of Spiritual Light was founded by Pastor Cari Jackson in 2002. Her passion is to support individuals and communities from diverse backgrounds, religions, and cultures who seek to break through the limitations of fear-based beliefs. The philosophy that guides all Center of Spiritual Light programs and services is that as we transform our thinking, we heal not only our own lives, but also our institutions and our world.
Rev. Cari Jackson, Ph.D. (affectionately known as Pastor Cari) brings vast experience as a pastor, teacher, counselor, facilitator, and organization development consultant. Rev. Jackson previously served as senior pastor of the historic First Congregational Church of Stamford, interim senior pastor at First Presbyterian Church of Brooklyn, associate pastor for congregational life at The Church St. Paul and St. Andrew (United Methodist), interim pastor and lecturer at Union Theological Seminary, and associate worship coordinator at The Riverside Church in New York City.

Prior to entering professional ministry, Cari Jackson had an extensive career in human resources, curriculum design, organization development, management training, and mediation in a cross-section of business and community service organizations.

Pastor Cari is the author of The Gift to Listen, the Courage to Hear (Augsburg Books, 2003). She received her Doctor of Philosophy degree in Christian Social Ethics from Drew University, where her dissertation, Double Talk, examined the aspects of black preaching that disempower black churchgoers in exercising their own social agency and moral authority. Her other degrees include a Master of Divinity from Union Theological Seminary, a Juris Doctor from the University of Maryland School of Law, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Sociology from Oberlin College.
