"Handle it, or it will handle you." My sister-friend Dr. Robin Owens said these words to me many years ago when she observed my procrastination in dealing with something I felt overwhelmed by. Her words of wisdom prompted me to address the challenge rather than procrastinating more and allowing it to grow. The thought of having to deal with a bigger mess got me into action to handle what I had before me right then.
Procrastination, because we feel overwhelmed or inadequate to handle the task, leads us in the opposite direction of peace. Not handling our challenging situations as they arise might appear for a moment like a more peaceful path, but in actuality and in the long run, it impedes our experience of peace.
So what do you do if you are already stressed, overwhelmed and feel like you can't handle anything more? Remind yourself that you can handle the challenge because you are not handling it alone.
Candy Holmes (author of the upcoming book, "I Made It Out") says, "Spirit provides bumpers for us, like the bumpers in the children's lanes in bowling alleys."
When you invite Spirit, at the beginning of your endeavors, you cannot lose. God, angels, ancestors, Orishas and other guides are always with you to guide and support your success. When you trust and invite this guidance, you can handle your situations before they handle you and experience peace.
