CHANI GETTER grew up in an ultra-orthodox-Hasidic home. At age 18, with barely a high school diploma, she entered an arranged marriage. Five years and three children later, she left her husband, and as a single parent, began a journey of self- discovery and freedom.
Chani’s influence as a speaker and coach is far reaching within Jewish communities and beyond, in North America and Europe. She has been featured in a documentary film and a PBS special, talking about her journey of self-empowerment. She leads retreats and workshops focused on empowerment and self-discovery. She brings a non-judgmental and open approach to important topics including single-parenting, domestic violence, cross-cultural integration, women’s issues, sexuality/ gender identity and spirituality, and rebuilding life after leaving insular communities.
Chani’s deep spirituality called her to explore many expressions of the Divine. She reflects the Divine in all who she is: a gay parent, spiritual leader and teacher, motivational speaker, a certified holistic life coach, and ritual creator. Since leaving the insular Hasidic community, Chani completed her Bachelor’s degree in Human Development at Empire State College while working full time to support herself and her children. After completing One Spirit Interfaith Seminary, Chani became ordained as an Interfaith Minister. She also completed a program called “Coaching for Transformation” receiving certification as a life coach from the New York Open Center.
